Futsal Edmonton's 2026/2027 league structure is built around two regular-season competition levels: Serie A and Serie B.
Both the Edmonton Futsal League and the Edmonton Women's Futsal League will use this structure.
The purpose is straightforward: create better competitive balance, give clubs clearer places to compete and build a structure that can grow as futsal grows in Edmonton.
What Is Serie A?
Serie A is the top regular-season competition level within both EFL and EWFL.
It is intended for teams ready to compete against the strongest opposition in their league across the season.
The standard is expected to be demanding. Matches should reward teams that can combine technical quality, tactical understanding, fitness, discipline and consistency.
What Is Serie B?
Serie B is the second regular-season competition level.
It creates additional space for clubs and teams to enter the Futsal Edmonton system while competing in an environment designed to produce meaningful matches.
For established clubs, it can support depth and program growth. For developing teams, it creates a clearer place to build futsal experience without removing the competitive expectations of league play.
One System, Different Competitive Levels
Serie A and Serie B are not separate organizations.
They are connected parts of the same EFL or EWFL structure, with the same Futsal Edmonton competition platform supporting fixtures, results, standings, club information and league coverage.
Team placement and competition administration are managed by the league based on the needs of the season and the overall competitive structure.
What About The Cups?
The EFL Cup and EWFL Cup are separate from regular-season league registration.
Registering a team for Serie A or Serie B does not automatically enter that team into a Cup competition. Cup participation and competition details are managed separately by Futsal Edmonton.
Why This Structure Matters
As the number and level of futsal teams in Edmonton grows, one large competition cannot always provide the best experience for every club.
A two-level structure gives the league more flexibility to build competitive matches while creating room for new clubs, stronger programs and future growth.
The long-term goal is a clear competitive pathway where teams know where they play, what standard they are chasing and what the next level looks like.
That is what Serie A and Serie B are designed to support.
